Zierdts descended through Ryther-Ingolsby line related to Boleyns
I made an interesting discovery this week. I began incorporating information from a genealogy prepared E. Hillman in 1960 into my own tree. It appears this document was prepared as documentation of eligibility for membership into the Daughters of the American Revolution. There was an Ingalsby/Ingolsby who served as one of the Lexington Minutemen, as well as other various family members. If you read the notes carefully, it also includes the direct line of ancestors back to the first Ingalsby arriving from England. The details include birth date/location, death date/location, spouse name and marriage date. Quite a bit of specifics. Enough to place him on a ships register coming from England. That then provides enough detail to trace him back along the male line to the Cromwell and Fortescue lines.
Sir Adrian Fortescue was a contemporary (and victim) of Henry VIII. The Fortescues were descendants of the Boleyn line. Adrian’s father, Sir John Fortescue, was a cousin of Anne Boleyn’s father Thomas Boleyn, 1st Earl of Wiltshire. Confused yet?
I haven’t worked out my actual relationship to Anne Bolyen, but it would be 8th cousins, three times removed or something like that.
It sure makes exploring fun!
Zierdts on Facebook
If you have a Facebook Account, look up individuals with the last name Zierdt. (Or anyone you are related to for that matter.) There is a geneaology application which allows you to connect to family members and indicate the relationship.
Grandma rolls, Cherry Winks and Dad’s pizza
Here are a few of the most popular family recipes. Grandma rolls were pretty traditional at any holiday meal. Cherry winks are the ultimate in Christmas cookies. Dad’s pizza recipe is thrown in since I had a pizza party where my nephew gave it a “Ten thumbs up!”
The cards are handwritten, which is a nice touch as well.
NaNoWriMo and Geneaology
I’m continuing my work on an historical fiction based on Mona R. Inman. I’ve been using the research tools at Ancestry.com. I have been able to find Mona’s passport application, including letters from the Red Cross and the U.S. War department requesting that the passport be granted so she can drive an ambulance in both France and Britain. The date is 1919. Mona is my Great Aunt, my dad’s Grandmother’s step-sister.
There are a number of other documents, mostly census reports showing family relationships and employment. I do notice occasional errors. James F. Ryan was mis-recorded as Jones F. Ryan in one of the Ancestry files. The original document is quite legible.
Two free weeks to try it out and you can print the scanned images from your desktop.
Very amazing. What would we do without the Internet?

Free Credit Monitoring
http://www.komonews.com/news/26126034.html
Transunion is in a class action lawsuit. Basically, you are included if you sign up for the 6 free months of credit monitoring and then are eligible for any other settlement.
If you have never signed up for credit monitoring, it is a good way to check that you don’t have any identity theft problems.
Recipes coming soon
Trina e-mailed me and asked about Dad’s pizza recipe. I will scan it and post it shortly.
I wonder where Dad’s clam joke page is, I should scan that too.
New Page to list Allergies
I just found out I’m allergic to yellowjacket stings. Not to the point of an anaphylactic response, but bad enough that I have severe joint pain, inflammation and swelling of the affected area.
I’ve created a page for everyone to post their respective allerigies. Hopefully, we’ll never need it, but it will come in handy for determining genetic predisposition in future years.
Estate Planning Resource
I’ve started to listen to Marketplace Money on Sunday afternoon’s. It’s on KUOW at 1pm. Pretty useful information, and not too depressing considering the general news on the economy.
I’m particularly impressed with the series on Estate Planning. Here is a link to all of the broadcasts of the series: http://marketplace.publicradio.org/display/web/2008/07/25/estate_planning/
I don’t necessarily recommend the rest of the website or the various discussion links however.
If You Want to Contribute as Well as Comment…
Nice little feature is that if you have a WordPress account, I can add you as a contributor. That means you can add new posts as well as comment.
If you only want to comment, that is fine too. I currently have the blog set up to allow any comments, but they won’t appear until I have approved them. That means you don’t need a special account and there won’t be any spam.
